Quadrature – Part of a periodic signal that is 90 degrees out of phase with a reference signal.
Qualified Person – QP or Qualified Person as defined in NI 43-101 is an individual who; A) is an engineer or geoscientist with at least five years of experience in mineral exploration, mine development or operation or mineral project assessment, or any combination of these; B) has experience relevant to the subject matter of the mineral project and the technical report; and C) is a member in good standing of a professional association.
Quarry – Open pit from which rock such as slate, limestone or building stone is extracted.
Quartz – Mineral composed of silicon dioxide. It is glassy, white and relatively hard; and is the second-most-abundant mineral in the earth’s continental crust after feldspar.
Quartz Arenite – Sandstone containing very little except pure quartz grains and cement.
Quartzite – Very hard, metamorphic rock consisting mainly of quartz that is formed by recrystallization of sandstone by either regional or thermal metamorphism.
Quaternary – Informal sub-era from 2.58 or 1.8 mya to today. The Quaternary is traditionally associated with the Holocene and Pleistocene, but an alternative definition sets its start during the cycle of glacials and interglacials around 2.6 mya.
